The nature reserve Gettjärnsklätten is situated ca. 8 km south of Gräsmark at the east side of lake Rottnen. The area was marked as a nature reserve 1976. From the top you have a wide view over Rottnen-Valley and the surroundings. The bedrock exists to a large extent of hyperit, a dark and calcareous rock. Therefore the mountain has got its special profile: At the east a long slope, at the west side a very steep cliff. The flora is remarkable due to the calcium and mineral contents of the soil. Gettjärnsklätten is interesting because it is the most northern place for many plants. The good conditions make it possible for about 190 species to grow here. Among the leaftrees are to be mentioned ask, elm, lime, maple, bird cherry and oak.

The interesting flora was already taken notice of by the Uppsala docent and Linné-scholar Myrin. The position to the sunshine, the calcareous rock and the access to water are good conditions for a plenty of plant species: milk-vetch, black pea, salomons seal, sweet woodruff, green strawberry, blue fleabane and bloody cranesbill.
The rich flora promotes insects and other animals in the area above all the butterflies.

You will also be able to see many kinds of birds, including woodpeckers, raven, wren and mocking-bird. Up in the cliff the raven is breeding and you can see its artistic flight. During autumn the crows are flying around the mountain to collect hazelnuts.

While walking up to the top think about that the way is steep. Take time and enjoy the nature.
Paths are leading in the reserve from the mainway. You have to go back the same paths to the mainway. On the top a walking path from Gettjärn in the south, to Sandnäs in the north is connecting.
From the parking place you can go down to the lake for bathing and grilling.

In the nature reserve it is not allowed to:
- damage the ground or plants for instance break branches, fell or damage living or dead trees and bushes, dig out or collect plants, mushrooms, moss or lichen.
