farers church way (mossgreen way on the map)
1. Bäviksbryggan. Here the legendary Johan Rystedt
was foreman. He has been father-in-law for the equal legendary boss of
the Polar music company. The steamboat Selma Lagerlöf used to land
on this bridge on its passanger tours till it was broken up in the beginning
of the 1960ties. Now the saved and fully restored steamboat Freja lands
on the stage again. After a while the way from the stage connects to the
pilgrim’Sandor way and follows it northwards to the chruch.
2. Kroon called in popular speech. Place for the old
pub. „You miew like the cats in Kroon“ was a judgement from
people who nag. Here it was Lars Gunnarsson in the book ”Kejsaren
av Portugallien“ got drunk before he died in an accident with his
horse and carriage.
3. Emtan. Down by the river a murder happened in the
beginning of the 20th century. The suspected could not be condemned because
of default of proof of guilt.
4. Sönner Elfvik. The house on the place was named
Svanvik by Selma Lagerlöf.
5. Prästbols Handel (store) or Noler Elfvik. Once
it was owned by Alfred Schullström. He gave most of the copper you
can see today in the kitchen in Mårbacka as a birthday present to
Selma Lagerlöf. This was to thank for once she helped him out of
a awkward economical situation.
6. Sylta. To here the iron from the iron work in Gårdsjö
came for further transport to Gothenburg. The iron work was owned by Selma’Sandor
grandfather, foundry proprietor Wallroth.
7. Gården Enkul. Here Selma lived a few days related
with the funeral of her aunt Lovisa 1907.
8. Östra Ämtervik’s church. Selma Lagerlöf’s
home church. On the cemetery is her grave. Here are also the graves of
Ingmar Ingmarsson and the Emperor of Portugal, persons known of Selmas
literary works. Also the graves of those who lost their lives when the
steamboat Freja in Bössviken 1896 sank.
